Yosef Chaim Ohana worked as a bartender and aspired to begin coaching studies . His mother, reflecting on the kind of person Yosef is, said: "He always took care of his brothers and me. Whenever anyone needed help, he never hesitated and did it lovingly, with a smile. I'm a single mother, and he always helps out; he even paid our rent once. He has a heart of gold, that’s well-known.”
She further shares, "He spreads so much light around him. Yosef is such a beloved young man; I receive many messages from his friends telling me how much he has influenced them. One of them even told me he got a tattoo of Yosef's face on his body. His friends constantly tell me that no matter where he is, he's sure to be making it a happier place. Last year, he lived with his grandmother. They too share a very close relationship."
Yosef attended the Nova music festival near Re’im with a friend. On Saturday morning, October 7th, during the terrorist attack on the festival site, both of them were assisting the injured people, transferring them to medics and ambulances. During his heroic actions, Yosef was kidnapped.
His mother talks about him with hope and love, underlining his selflessness and the positive impact he has on those around him, holding onto the belief that he is being cared for and will soon return home safely: “I struggle with my thoughts and prefer to think that he is in a safe place, that they are taking care of him, and that he will come home soon."
